AC to take part in a pair of informative College exploration events in October
High school juniors and seniors will have a profusion of higher-education materials to explore – and people to meet – at the Texas Panhandle Area High Schools University and College Night being co-sponsored by Amarillo College.
Approximately 50 colleges and universities from across the state and the nation are expected to have representatives in attendance at the event, which is from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the Amarillo ISD’s AmTech Career Academy.
Amarillo College and West Texas A&M University are co-sponsoring University and College Night in partnership with AmTech, which is located at 3601 Plains Blvd.
Then on Tuesday, Oct. 22, Amarillo College will conduct its own Amarillo College Fair, an Admission & Program Information Night from 5-7 p.m. at Region 16, 5800 Bell St. Anyone interested in attending AC will have an opportunity to meet faculty from the College’s various academic communities and, if desired, receive help with the admissions process and the application for federal financial aid.
“Both these events will be highly informative for prospective students and their families,” said Margarita Rocha, AC’s director of outreach services. “The event at AmTech will have representatives from about 50 colleges and universities, and they will be able to answer any questions about their institutions that people have – more information than frills.
“Our event at Region 16 will focus solely on AC,” she said, “and we will be able to help folks learn a great deal about their community college, which just so happens to be the co-recipient of the nation’s most prestigious accolade – the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence. Helping put students from throughout our community on pathways to great careers is what we do.”
