High School Students Invited to Career Experiential Events at AC

Area high school students will experience what it is like to be an AC student during career exploration events at Amarillo College.

AC will host different career exploration events during the next four months. Students should register for the free events that include the chance to talk to faculty, sit in a class, compete in contests, and/hear a special speaker.

Students interested in business, computer information systems, mathematics, engineering, or science are invited to Spark from 5-6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25 in the Oak Room on AC’s Washington Street campus.

Students interested in the creative arts with careers in music, theatre, art and mass media are invited to Passport to a Career in the Arts from 11:30 a.m.-2:25 p.m. Friday, March 21 at the Concert Hall of AC’s Washington Street Campus.

Other students interested in education and liberal arts are invited to The Next Experience from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday, April 28 at the Dutton Hall on AC’s Washington Street Campus.

All students interested in careers related to industry are invited to Top of Texas from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2 at the Manufacturing Education Center on AC’s East Campus. Thursday will include competitions, and Friday will be focused on career options.

“Our events will help you know what it feels like to be in this specific career,” said Margarita Rocha, director of AC Outreach. “Each program has specific things like classes, competitions, and speakers to understand more about the program. There will even be some AC students currently in program you can talk to.”

If you plan to bring a group of students or need more information about either of these upcoming events, please contact Rocha at mrocha26@actx.edu.
