AC’s Chautauqua Explores Technology’s Impact on Humanity
Amarillo College invites the community to its second Chautauqua session of the fall, “The Questions Concerning Technology,” on Wednesday, Oct. 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at AC’s Innovation Outpost at 1220 S. Polk Street in Amarillo.
This thought-provoking event is part of AC’s ongoing Chautauqua series, Conversations About Be-ing Human, which examines the intersections of culture, technology, and religion in today’s world. The October session will focus on how technology shapes—and challenges—our understanding of what it means to be human.
Panelists include:
- Victor Favela, director of AC’s Center for Teaching and Learning
- Christopher George, AC networking/cybersecurity instructor
- Derreck Jett, AC, Instructor of Advanced Manufacturing
- Dr. Lori Petty, AC dean of academic services
- Dr. Asanga Ranasinghe, AC, Professor of Physical Sciences
“This forum gives our community a space to wrestle with big questions about humanity and the tools we create,” said Dr. Robert Fulton, Chautauqua coordinator and associate professor of humanities. “It’s a modern take on the original Chautauqua tradition—bringing people together to learn, reflect, and engage.”
The session will feature presentations, open discussion, and refreshments. Admission is free and open to the public.
