Amarillo College to Host “Women in Industry” Highlighting Careers in Skilled Trades
Amarillo College will host its “Women in Industry: Build. Weld. Machine. Succeed.” event on Thursday, March 26 offering participants an opportunity to explore high-demand careers in technical and industrial fields.
The free event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the East Campus Student Support Center Gymnasium, located at 1401 J Ave. Lunch will be provided, and space is limited. Attendees must pre-register to secure a spot.
Designed to introduce attendees to hands-on career pathways, the event will feature interactive experiences and information sessions across a variety of industrial programs. Participants will have the opportunity to explore fields including auto collision, automotive and diesel maintenance, aviation maintenance, general construction and carpentry, truck driving, machining technology, welding technology, wind energy and HVAC, and advanced manufacturing.
In addition to learning about these career options, attendees will gain insight into Amarillo College’s two-year technical degrees and certificate programs. The programs are tailored to meet workforce demands and are developed in collaboration with local industry partners to ensure students gain the skills needed for immediate employment.
One registered attendee will also be awarded a scholarship to attend Amarillo College.
“This event is designed to empower participants to discover their potential and pursue rewarding careers in the skilled trades—fields that continue to see strong job growth and competitive wages,” said Margarita Rocha-Zubia, AC coordinator of Outreach Services. “It is a great way for women to meet the AC faculty and others interested in industry and plan their next steps.”
