AC to Host Regional JET Grant Check Presentation with Texas Workforce Commission
Amarillo College will host a regional Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant check presentation at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 30 in the Student Life & Conference Center on the Washington Street Campus.
Texas Workforce Commission Commissioner Representing the Public Brent Connett will present the grants, which are designed to support career and technical education programs and expand opportunities for students to gain workforce-ready skills.
The JET grant program helps schools purchase and install equipment to train students for high-demand occupations. Through these programs, students can begin building valuable credentials and career pathways earlier.
“These grants are incredibly valuable to our partner schools because they remove barriers and create real opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in high-demand fields,” said Jaqui Jones, executive director of Grant Administration and Compliance at Amarillo College. “By investing in equipment and training at the high school level, we’re helping students build confidence, earn college credit, and move more quickly into meaningful careers.”
Students who complete 15 dual-credit hours in high school may qualify for Amarillo College’s Badger Bound scholarship, which allows them to earn an additional 45 hours toward a degree or certificate, creating a seamless and cost-effective transition into higher education.
Participating grant recipients in the region include:
• Hale Center ISD / South Plains College
• Happy ISD / Amarillo College
• Hartley ISD / Frank Phillips College
The event is open to the guests, community members and AC’s community. Guests are encouraged to park in the lot north of 22nd Avenue and Washington Street.
