The Terk Family Gives Transformative Gift to Amarillo College Athletics
The Terk family has made a $760,847 gift to Amarillo College athletics — the largest to a designated AC sport, set to benefit the AC volleyball program. The Amarillo College Foundation, along with this generous family announced the gift at a news conference Tuesday morning at the FirstBank Southwest Center on AC’s Washington campus. The gift to the AC volleyball program will benefit three funds established through the families’ generosity.
The gift includes:
- Madison Kellogg Endowed Volleyball Scholarship: $250,000
- Madison Kellogg Volleyball Support Fund: $250,000
- Michael and Cindy Terk Athletic Support Fund: $260,847
“This gift is truly transformational for Amarillo College volleyball,” said Scott Sandel, AC volleyball coach. “It gives us an opportunity to invest in our student-athletes in ways that will have an impact well beyond the volleyball court. We are incredibly grateful to the Kellogg and Terk families for believing in our students and investing in the future of AC athletics.”
The Madison Kellogg Endowed Volleyball Scholarship honors Madison Kellogg, a former AC volleyball player, whose experience balancing collegiate athletics with nursing school shaped her commitment to perseverance, integrity, leadership and excellence. The scholarship will support volleyball student-athletes who demonstrate those qualities both in the classroom and on the court.
The Madison Kellogg Volleyball Support Fund will provide additional resources for the volleyball program and enhance opportunities for student-athletes.
The Michael and Cindy Terk Athletic Support Fund reflects Michael and Cindy Terk’s longstanding commitment to faith, generosity, hard work and service to others. The fund will support AC student-athletes as they pursue academic and athletic excellence while developing character, resilience, discipline, leadership and a strong work ethic.
“This very generous gift is an investment in students and in the future of Amarillo College athletics,” said Joe Bill Sherrod, AC vice president of institutional advancement. “The legacy created by these families will extend far beyond this moment. Their generosity will provide opportunities for student-athletes for years to come and demonstrates the powerful difference that philanthropy can make in the lives of our students.”
For Madison Kellogg, the gift represents an opportunity to give back to the program that helped shape her. Her scholarship fund is rooted in the values instilled in her by her grandparents, Cindy and late Michael Terk, and in the encouragement and support she received from AC teammates, coaches and mentors.
The Terks’ athletic support fund carries that same spirit of investing in others. Throughout their lives, The Terks have emphasized generosity, service and creating opportunities for others.
