AC Cybersecurity Event Highlights Student Voice and Hands-On Learning

Amarillo College’s Innovation Outpost became a hub of exploration and discovery last Tuesday as more than 50 students, educators, and community members gathered for an immersive cybersecurity experience. Hosted by the College’s Computer Information Systems (CIS) program, the event featured live cyberattack simulations, industry-grade analytics tools, and a “Lunch and Learn” spotlighting AC student Zai’Chanel Anderson.

When Jacqueline Mendoza first enrolled at Amarillo College, she was a business major without a clear career direction.“I didn’t really know where I was going from there,” she said. “Then I got into technology and computers because my dad already does some stuff with that. The more I got into the classes, the more I liked where this was going.”

STEM majors to network with local employers at Employability Forum

Selected STEM majors at Amarillo College will have a chance to enhance their prospects for summer internships and future employment when they network with a number of local employers at AC’s STEM Employability Forum. The event, which is being co-sponsored by the College’s Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) STEM Grant and AC’s Career Services, is from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Oct. 25 at AC’s Innovation Outpost, 1220 S. Polk St.
