Amarillo College Foundation Named 2026 Neighborhood Builder, Receives $100,000
The Amarillo College Foundation has been named a 2026 Neighborhood Builder® by Bank of America, earning a $100,000 grant over two years and leadership development resources to support its work in the community.
The funding will support Amarillo College’s Advocacy and Resource Center (ARC), which connects students with resources and assistance to help them overcome barriers to success and stay on track toward completing their education.
“This investment will help Amarillo College continue supporting students who face challenges beyond the classroom,” said Joe Bill Sherrod, vice president of institutional advancement at Amarillo College. “By supporting the ARC, these funds will help connect students with resources they need to overcome barriers and achieve their educational goals.”
Through Bank of America’s Neighborhood Builders program, nonprofit organizations receive funding and leadership development opportunities designed to strengthen their organizations, expand their impact and advance their missions.
“Local institutions are vital to the heartbeat of our community," said Breezy Adams, president, Bank of America Amarillo. "Amarillo College plays a transformative role in helping students build better futures, and through Neighborhood Builders, we’re proud to support its work and invest in leadership that will strengthen the Panhandle for years to come.”
Since the program’s inception, eight nonprofits have been selected as Neighborhood Builders in Amarillo, with the bank investing more than $400,000 in philanthropic capital into these nonprofits. Part of the bank’s longstanding efforts to build thriving communities by addressing issues fundamental to economic opportunity, the program has invested more than $346 million nationally since 2004 and trained more than 4,000 leaders at nearly 2,000 U.S. nonprofits. The Amarillo College Foundation and Bank of America will celebrate the recognition during a reception from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 in the second-floor lobby of the College Union Building on AC’s Washington Street Campus.
Community members are invited to attend. Please RSVP to Sherrie Padilla at sherrie.padilla@bofa.com by Nov. 6. Parking is recommended in Lot 9.
