    \ After studying the material presented in this course of study, the student will be able to do the following as evaluated by the faculty in the department/program.

    1. \ Key the alpha/numeric keyboard by touch (this means without looking at the keyboard as you strike the keys) at a minimum rate of 25 words per minute for three minutes with a limit of 0-3 errors on designated material.*(C1,C3,C5,C6,C8,C15,C16,C17,C18,C19,C20,F1,F8,F9,F10,F11,F12,F13,F16,F17)

    Expected Student Behavior

    Grading Criteria

    GRADING SCALE: 90-100 = A; 80-89 = B; 70-79 = C; 60-69 = D; <60 = F

    FINAL COURSE GRADE:

     20% = Attendance
     30% = Lessons
     20% = Technique
     30% = 3’ Timed Writings 
    100% = Final Grade

    TIMED WRITINGS: Your two best 3-minute timed writings within the specified speed and error range will be averaged to determine your final Timed Writing grade (30 percent of final grade) for the semester based on the following scale:

    A = 25+ wpm with 0-3 errors
    B = 20-24 wpm with 0-3 errors
    C = 15-19 wpm with 0-3 errors
    D = 12-14 wpm with 0-3 errors
    F = <12 wpm with 0-3 errors

    Attendance

    \ This class meets one time a week for six weeks. You are expected to be at each class on time and ready to work. Attendance is 20% of your semester grade. You must attend each class. Points will be deducted for each absence.

    Final Examination – Three Minute Timings

     

    CLASS PROCEDURE: Complete required drills designated by the instructor. This course is designed to teach you to strike the keys for alphabetic letters and numbers by touch (without looking at your fingers or the machine) on any keyboard.  In this course, you will learn basic functions of computers.
