PHED-1271-003 Personal Trainer Precertification

Prerequisites

Corequisite: PHED 1123

Course Description

Designed to prepare students to take the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) examination. The student will gain experience in personal training by assisting in the instruction of individualized self-paced fitness classes. Upon successful completion of this course the student will be ready to take the appropriate certification exam to become a certified personal trainer.

Student Performance

Objectives include encouraging all students to take the NSCA-CPT exam with a pass rate of 95% of all those that sit to take it. Secondary objective is to encourage students to enroll in the Pre-cert intern class upon completion of this course.

To educate students in the field of exercise science and leadership skills needed to begin a career in the personal training filed.

Also, to prepare for the NSCA-CPT exam.
