In person hours are by appointment in the summer.
Virtual office hours are available for all students in online classes. These are very flexible and I am available whenever you need me as I know your class, work, and family obligations vary. You can email me 24/7. If we need to visit over the phone, via Google Meet, or in person we can schedule a mutually convenient time. I will provide a Google Meet link in your class in Blackboard to meet virtually.

If you email me directly, always provide your first and last name, class and section number if currently enrolled or student id if not currently enrolled. Unless Blackboard is down, currently enrolled students are expected to email me from the course.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Basic theory and processes of communication skills necessary for the management of an organization’s workforce. Student will learn how to produce a job resume, job application letters and prepare for job interviews.

3. Discuss the elements involved in international and intercultural communications.

4. Compare and contrast the relationship of communication and management, including the following: define and discuss the concept of goodwill as it applies to communication skills. SCANS* Information C6, Interpersonal C12

5. Demonstrate competencies in verbal and written communication skills through oral and written presentations, including the following:

A. Identify the activities involved in the writing process.

CLASSROOM GROUND RULES:

Be on time and prepared for classroom discussion. No food or drink in computer classrooms. Cell phones and pagers must be in silent mode while class is in session. NO TEXTING DURING CLASS. NO IPODS. NO IPHONES. ALL CELL PHONES MUST REMAIN IN YOUR BACKPACK, POCKET, OR PURSE DURING CLASS.
GRADING SCALE:
90 - 100% = A Excellent
80 - 89% = B Above Average, Very Good
70 - 79% = C Average, Good
60 - 69% = D Poor, but passing
Below 60% = F Failing
You must make arrangements in ADVANCE if you will miss an exam. If you miss an exam and do not make arrangements in ADANCE to make it up, you will receive a zero.
EXAMINATIONS:
Examinations will consist of essay, true-false, multiple choice, matching, or short answer questions.

The final exam is scheduled according to the Amarillo College final exam schedule.
ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Students are expected to attend all regularly scheduled class meetings. Should you miss a class, it is your responsibility to determine what you have missed and take appropriate actions. Please obtain the names and phone numbers of at least two of your fellow classmates and contact them about anything you have missed.
WITHDRAWAL POLICY:
It is the responsibility of the student to initiate drop or withdrawal procedures through the registrar’s office. Students who stop attending class but do not officially drop or withdraw from this course will receive a letter grade at the end of the semester.
