As an engineer, you will need to continue lifelong learning throughout your career. You will attend workshops, tour work sites, interview clients, among other duties. To support the goal of lifelong learning outside of the classroom, the Engineering Department will arrange for guest speakers and tours to broaden your education. There will be speakers on the first Wednesday, at noon, of each month (September, October, and November) and two tours. You must attend 4 of the 6 actitives and fill out a short report form. If you cannot attend the activity, you will submit a 3 page, double spaced, 12 point paper (including footnotes) on the topic you missed. The due date for the paper will be 1 week after the missed activity. You must notify me one week before each scheduled activity as to whether or not you will be able to attend.
Class time is 10:30 AM to 11:45 PM Tuesdays and Thursdays in room 208 Engineering.
Attendance is essential for successful completion of this course. Late homework is not accepted. Homework may always be submitted early and exams may taken in advance when absences are due to a scheduled event.
An attendance sheet will be distributed at each class session. Perfect attendance with the exception of DAY 1 (automatically excused) will yield 3 bonus points to your final average. If you have more than 3 unexcused absences then each such absence beyond the third will deduct 1 point from your average.
For your convenience, my schedule is attached. While I will make an effort to be on hand at the times shown, there will be times that will not be possible. I will also be available at times not indicated. CALL ME IF YOU NEED HELP!
