\ 1. Identify nouns. 2. Identify verbs. 3. Identify adjectives. 4. Identify adverbs. 5. Write sentences with statement and question punctuation. 6. Write sentences using capitalization rules. 7. Write sentences with correct subject - verb agreement. 8. Recognize a complete sentence with a subject, verb, capital letter, end-mark, and complete thought.
\ To enable students to communicate in writing using simple sentences. To enable students to recognize parts of a sentence, correct spelling, capitalization, and beginning punctuation.

Expected Student Behavior
\ Please speak English in the classroom at all times. Cell phones must be turned off during class times unless special permission is given by the instructor.
Grading Criteria
\ A = 90-100 Excellent; B = 80-89 Good; C = 70-79 Fair; D = Below 70 ; Failing, must repeat. One hour of lab work per week is required. If a student or a class does not finish the material
\ Make up tests will not be given. If you miss one test, the grades you have will be averaged with no penalty. If you miss more than one test, you will receive a 0 for the test missed.
Attendance
\ Please limit absences to no more than 5 a semester. Additional absences can affect your final grade in the class. If you stop attending class and do not formally withdraw, you will receive an F.
