Prerequisites

Course Description

An in-depth study of industrial processes including fluid flow and material transport, distillation, extraction and automatic control requirements of these processes. Instruction in control system design and control loop adjustments and analyses.

Textbooks

\ There are no textbook requirements for this course. All materials will be presented in class.

Supplies

Students will require  2-3" binder and notebook paper, pens or pencils, and calculator (cell phone may be used in place of a calculator in this class.)

Student Performance

Explain the static and dynamic aspects of processes; describe the automatic control requirements of processes; and analyze process variables and adjust the control loop.

Expected Student Behavior

Cell phones should be silenced during class. Cell phones may be used in place of a calculator.

Food and drink may be allowed in non-computer lecture class, but may not be allowed in computer labs.

Grading Criteria

Students will receive a letter grade according to the following criteria:

Attendance         10%

Unit Exams         30%

Midterm Exam     30%

Final Exam          30%

A=90-100;  B=80-89;  C=70-79;  D=60-69;  F=Below 60. 

Attendance

Attendance in class is regarded as a requirement and obligation for learning. Students are expected to attend at scheduled class times.

Please remember that the last date to drop class is November 16, 2011.  If you stop attending class and fail to officially drop a course by this deadline, you will receive an "F" for the course.

It is the responsibility of the student to gain any materials missed during regularly scheduled class caused by their absence.

It is the responsibility of the student to make arrangements with the instructor to schedule a time to make up missed exams due to absence(s). This makeup exam may be scheduled at an alternate time outside of regularly scheduled class time and is at the discretion of the instructor.
