Expected Student Behavior

—WHILE IN CLASS: A student friendly environment is needed for learning. There are five guidelines each student must adhere to. 1). Use headphones when listening to music. 2). No undesirable visual or verbal communication. 3). No eating or drinking in the lab area. 4) Cell phones must be placed in quite mode. 5). All students will attend/present at the Showcase at the end of the semester.

Grading Criteria

—The alphabet system explained in the Amarillo College Catalog. It should be noted that                         a minimum grade of “C” is required as a prerequisite for advanced courses in studio art.
\ —Having the proper tools the student will complete all tasks. The instructor will provide direction, demonstration and or examples to help the student complete each task.
\
\                 The course grade will be determined by the student’s attendance record, attitude in class,                     work ethics, goals and objectives and industry standard quality of assignments.
\                     Industry Standards are as follows.
\                     1. Good Concept        2. Good Design            3. Creativity                            4. Good Execution        5. Meet Deadlines        6. Professionalism
\ —Late work violates 3 industry standards; therefore, a grade of “0” will be given to the student, unless arrangements have been made on new due date with instructor. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate new due date arrangements.

Justifiable absences, such as illness or death in the immediate family, will allow the student to make up work missed: However, the absences are still recorded and any action deemed necessary by the instructor will be taken.

Attendance

—Students are allowed one (1) week of absences from class. Students final grade will be lowered by one letter grade for each additional week missed. One point will be taken off the final grade average for every week of tardiness.

The student will identify and give the instructor a timeline of goals and objectives for each week, to be reached by deadline set for the semester. The student can combine one or more week in the semester with instructor approval and written notice on the timeline sheet.
