Welcome to American Sign Language (ASL) Dual Credit. This year, you will be Introduction to American Sign Language covering fingerspelling, vocabulary, numbers and basic sentence structure in preparing individuals to interpret oral speech for the hearing impaired.

Grading Criteria

II. Video work.  Video work is due every Tuesday and Thursday.  If you are absent on a Tuesday or a Thursday the assignment is due the next class period. I will take off points for each day the assignment is late.  Also, Tuesdays and Thursdays are NO Voicing Days.

 

III. Chapter Quizzes from For Hearing People Only. Every Monday and Wednesday, you will have a quiz over a chapter from For Hearing People Only.  You have ONE week to make up missing quizzes.

 

IV. Projects.  Every Friday, you will be working a project. 

 

 

 

V. Readings. During this semester, you will have several different articles to read.  The article may be giving to you in class or you will be required to find an article on the topic I give you. After reading each article, you will have to type a one page paper about the article. I will give you requirements for each article. 

 

VI. Deaf Hours. You are required to have 10 hours interactive time with the Deaf Community.  You can obtain these hours by going to Deaf Church (Wednesday’s nights or Sunday), Deaf Fest or other Deaf Events.

 

VII. Mid-Term. The Mid-Term Exam will include materials learned from Units 1-3 and FHPO Chapters 1-33. 

 

VIII. Final Exam. Each student will take the Final Exam. The exam will cover Signing Naturally Units 4-6 and Chapters 34-65 from For Hearing People Only.

 

IV: Grading
