\ 1. Identify all the elements in the communication process, and will explain how those elements are influenced by semantics and perception.

\ 2. Identify and analyze the elements that characterize audiences, compare and contrast group communications with one on one communications.

\

\ 3. Define and discuss the concept of building goodwill as it applies to the potential barriers to good communication skills and successful management.

\

\ 4. Discuss the elements invloved in international and intercultural communications.

\

\ 5. Demonstrate competencies in verbal (oral and written) communication skills through: identification of the activities in the writing process and the patterns for positive, nagetive and persuasive messages.

\ 6. Discuss the importance of non-verbal communication in management.

\ 7. Compare the various formats and approaches available for job resumes, job application letters and job interviews and produce an effective resume

\ I understand that is it sometimes impossible to come to class (Swine Flu, death or dismemberment). Because so much of the content of this course occurs in class, students are expected to attend all regularly scheduled class meetings. Should you miss a class, it is your responsiblity to determine what you have missed and take appropriate actions. Please obtain the names and phone numbers of at least two of your fellow classmates and contact them to find out what you missed. Students who have perfect attendance and at least an 80 average will not be required to take the final exam

\ WITHDRAWAL POLICY:  It is the responsibility of the student to initiate drop or withdrawal procedures through the registrar’s office.  Students who stop attending class but do not officially drop or withdraw from this course will receive a letter grade at the end of the semester.

\ EXAMINATIONS:  Examinations will consist of essay, true-false, multiple choice, matching or short answer questions. Final Examination will be comprehensive. Final grade will be determined by dividing total number of points by the number of tests and projects. Instructor reserves the right to subjectively influence the final grade relative to class attendance, participation and attitude.
