Students Rights and Responsibilities

Student Rights and Responsibilities

Log in using the AC Connect Portal

In order to receive your AC Connect Email, you must log in through AC Connect at https://acconnect.actx.edu .

If you are an active staff or faculty member according to Human Resources, use "Exchange". All other students, use "AC Connect (Google) Email".

Expected Student Behavior

\ This class includes a discussion question every week.  Each student must answer the discussion and respond to the answers of two other people.  The questions often deal with controversial subjects that require students to think hard about opinions they may take for granted.  There are no right or wrong answers.  However, I do require students to be respectful of each other's thoughts and opinions.  I expect you to disagree, but I also expect you to be civil to each other.

Grading Criteria

\

\ Your homework, discussion, and exam grades will be averaged for the semester on a 100 percent system.  Your homework and discussions will make up 40% of your overall grade. The midterm exam and final exam will each make up 30% of your grade for the semester.

\

\ From 90-100 is an A, from 80-90 is a B, from 70-80 is a C, from 60-70 is a D, and below 60 is an F.  All your work will be graded with 100 as the maximum number of points possible.  More details about homework and discussion will be provided during the first week of the semester.

\

\ I will not accept make-up work without a good excuse.  You will have a week to complete each assignment, and that should be sufficient.  I will not a late final exam for any reason.

\

Attendance

\ I expect students to spend enough time online each week to read their assignments, do their homework, answer their discussion questions, and respond to the answers of at least two other people.
