Course Description: Strategic management process involving analysis of how organizations develop and implement a strategy for achieving organizational objectives in a changing environment.  

  • Develop the capacity to think strategically about a company, its present business position, its long-term direction, its resources and competitive capabilities, the caliber of its strategy, and its opportunities for gaining sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Build skills in conducting strategic analysis in a variety of industries and competitive situations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to craft business strategy, reasoning carefully about strategic options, using what-if analysis to evaluate action alternatives, and making sound strategic decisions.
  • Understand the managerial tasks associated with implementing and executing company strategies.
  • Understand the need for a business to be managed in strategic harmony for the organization to operate in winning fashion.
  • Know how to assess business risk and learn to make sound decisions to achieve effective outcomes

\ It is the responsibility of the student to initiate drop or withdrawal procedures.  Students who stop attending class but do not officially drop or withdraw from this course will receive a letter grade at the end of the semester.

Grading Criteria

\ 90-100%          =          A Excellent

\

\ 80-89%            =          B Above Average, Very Good

\

\ 70-79%            =          C Average, Good

\

\ 60-69%            =          D Poor, but passing

\

\ Below 60%       =          F Failing

\ Attendance Policy: Although this is an Online class, students are expected to attend all regularly scheduled class meetings. Should you miss a class, it is your responsibility to determine what you have missed and take appropriate actions. Additional Information

\ There is no general make up policy for this class. However, the instructor does reserve the right to allow any variance to this policy. Examinations will consist of essay, true or false, multiple choice, matching, or short answer questions and project. Final examination may be comprehensive. Final grade will be determined by dividing total number of points by the number of tests and projects. Instructor reserves the right to subjectively influence the final grade relative to class attendance, participation and attitude.
