1. Review the vowel sounds. 2. Learn letter clusters and their sounds. 3. Learn silent letter words. 4. Improve vocabulary by using context clues. 5. Read and discuss stories. 6. Read longer stories and answer comprehension questions.To assist students in word attack skills by improving phonetic skills and sight word recognition. To improve vocabulary and comprehension skills.

Expected Student Behavior

Please speak English in the classroom at all times. Cell phones must be turned off during class times unless special permission is given by the instructor.

Grading Criteria

\ A = 90-100 Excellent; B = 80-89 Good; C = 70-79 Fair; D = 60-69 Failing. One hour of lab per week is required.

\ The final grade will be calculated as follows:
\ Exam Grades = 50%
\ Daily Grades = 25%
\ Final Exam = 25%

\

\ Make up exams will not be given. The lowest exam grade will be dropped. If you miss more than one test, you will receive a 0 for the test missed.

Attendance

Please limit absences to no more than 5 a semester. Additional absences can affect your final grade in the class. If you stop attending class and do not formally withdraw, you will receive an F.
