\ Some inexpensive supplies may be necessary to complete some laboratory assignments.

Student Performance

\ Students in BIOL 2306, a 3 credit hour course, will be evaluated on the basis of 4 exams and a non-comprehensive final, quizzes/discussions and homeworks covering assigned chapters.

\

\ In addition, students must be enrolled in BIOL 2106 the laboratory compenent of Environmental Science. The grade in BIOL 2106 will consist of 5 assignments. This course is an integrated part of BIOL 2306, but is a separate 1 credit hour.

Expected Student Behavior

\ It is important in an online course to maintain professionalism and respect. Any excessively rude or inappropriate comments or postings may result in expulsion from the course.

Grading Criteria

\ Grading Scale/Criteria: Students must take BIOL 2106 concurrently with BIOL 2306 in the same manner (ie. online)

\

\ A = 89.5 - 100 %

\

\ B = 79.5 - 89.4 %

\

\ C = 69.5 - 79.4 %

\

\ D = 59.5 - 69.4  %

\

\ F = < 59.4 % 

\

\ Makeup Policy: There are no make up assignments, quizzes, discussions or exams.

\

\ Grades will be determined based upon the total points earned on examinations, participation, weekly quizzes, and the chapter assignments. There is no provision for doing extra or outside work to improve your grade. There are no make-up exams or labs.

\

\ Discussions:  In order to receive credit for discussions, your initial post must be submitted by Thursday at midnight the week of assignment and consist of 4-5 well thought out sentences.  To receive credit for replies, these must be submitted by Sunday at midnight and consist of 2-3 well thought out sentences ("I agree" does not count as a well thought out sentence). 

Attendance

\ Students must check the calendar, homepage, and e-mail on a daily basis during regular class days. Assignments and assessments will be posted on the calendar. Students will also participate in discussion groups.
