Student Performance

 

Course Description:  Implementation of software for illustration and/or photo manipulation for reproduction.

End-of-Course Outcomes:  Identify terminology, advantages and limitations of vector software, raster software and traditional techniques in creating industry-standard images for use in print, web, and multimedia.

The student will learn elements and principles of design, and will be able to illustrate and design using the tools associated with industry-related computer software.

A) Exhibit understanding of the tools used in illustration.
B) Produce artwork for use in print, web, and multimedia.
C) Exhibit understanding of design production.

\ - Cell phones will be required to be kept inside your purse, bag or pocket.
\ - No texting during lecture, critique or class room instruction.
\ - No social networking of any kind during class time.
\ - Students are required to come to class prepared with all supplies.
\ - Student are expected to be respectful to each other and all faculty.

\ Failure to operate within the above guidelines will result in dismissal from the class and student will not receive credit for that day's attendance. Further action will be taken if a student exhibits a habitual disregard to the above guidelines.

\ Plagiarism of any kind will not be tolerated and will be reported.

Grading Criteria

In-Class assignments/exercises - 25%

Major Projects - 40%

Sketch book assignments - 25%

Attendance - 10%


• All projects are due when class starts on the day they are specified to be submitted.
• NO LATE PROJECTS WILL BE ACCEPTED and student will receive an (F) for the project.
• Students that can not make the deadline due to outside circumstances, will be required to turn their projects in early.
• All projects, except the Journal and projects that received an (F) for being late, may be redone and submitted for review of a grade advancement.
• All late projects must still be present and complete in the PDF Final Portfolio.
 

Attendance

THIS IS A STUDIO COURSE - YOUR ATTENDANCE AND PROMPT ARRIVAL TO CLASS ARE ESSENTIAL FOR LEARNING AND EVALUATION.

ABSENCES
5 absences = no penalty
6 absences = Drop final average one letter grade 
7 absences = FAILURE OF THE ENTIRE COURSE

TARDINESS
5 tardies = no penalty
6 or more tardies = 1 point removed from activity grade per tardy after 5.

• Students will be responsible for checking signing in to the attendance sheet.
• Instructor is not responsible for student's failure to check in on the attendance sheet.
• Failure by student to check the attendance sheet will result in an absence.
• Students my request a review of their own attendance record with the instructor outside of class time.
