Prerequisites: RNSG 1209 and RNSG 1105
Development of skills and techniques required for a comprehensive health assessment within a legal/ethical framework. Includes adult head-to-toe assessment and interviewing techniques. This course lends itself to a blocked approach.

\Students must have some basic computer knowledge and access to a computer with internet access.

The student will describe the components of a comprehensive health assessment and demonstrate the techniques utilized in a systematic process on the adult patient.
Upon completion of the Health Assessment course, the student will:
\PROVIDER OF CARE: 1. Develop assessment skills in order to assist the adult patient in the promotion and restoration of health 2. Develops and implements teaching plans for clients and families concerning the promotion, restoration, maintenance, and restoration of health. 3. Demonstrate caring behaviors to the client and the client. 4. Demonstrates basic and advanced health assessment skills in the care of the adult client. 5. Utilizes a critical thinking approach to analyze assessment data and current literature as a basis for decision-making in nursing practice.
\COORDINATOR OF CARE : 6. Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills in the health assessment of the adult client. 7. Applies current technology, equipment, and resource management skills in the management of the adult client.
\MEMBER OF A PROFESSION: 8. Assumes accountability and responsibility of nursing care and promotes the development and practice of professional nursing. 9. Implements assessment skills in a legal, safe, and ethical manner reflecting a concern for the quality and respect for human value. 10. Identifies strengths and opportunities for improvement of assessment skills in the adult client.

\25% of the course grade is from the comprehensive computer examination

\ Regular attendance is necessary for satisfactory achievement. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to attend class. Students muct attend 90% of classroom meetings. The student should be on time, so three tardies will equal one missed day.
