Course Description

In-depth coverage of desktop publishing terminology, text editing and use of design principles to create publishing material using word processing desktop publishing features. Emphasis on layout techniques, graphics and multiple page displays.

    PLAGIARISM, CHEATING AND INDIVIDUAL WORK ETHIC:  The Amarillo College policies and Code of Student Conduct is strictly adhered to when dealing with plagiarism, cheating and duplication of work product.  Any evidence of plagiarism, cheating or duplication of work product will result in a zero on the project or test in question.

    Word 2007 Chapter exercises will be checked:  (total 42 exercises)
                42-40 completed exercises = A           
                39-37 completed exercises = B
                36-34 completed exercises = C
                33-31 completed exercises = D
                30-28 completed exercises = F
                Below 28 completed exercises = 0

    (You MUST complete at least 28 chapter exercises.  Regardless of other grades, if you do NOT complete at least 28 chapter exercises, your course grade will be an F.)

    Word 2007 Chapter Skill Assessments and Unit Performance Assessments will be graded (see grading scale):  (There are 32 chapter skill assessments and unit performance assessments.)

    Weekly lab assignments as stated on the course schedule.  No late chapter exercises will be accepted for any reason.

    You must label your chapter exercises and other assignments properly in order to receive credit.  Staple all printed material assigned for that chapter exercise or other assignment together.  On the top sheet in the top right corner, handwrite your first and last name; on the next line, your class (DTP, MTWR, 11:30 a.m.-1:20 p.m.); on the next line, the exercise number or assessment number.  At the top right corner of each exercise or assessment, you must write that exercise or assessment number.

                            Remember:  no name, or no class, or no number = no count!!

    Chapter exercises and/or other assignments are to be placed in box labeled:  BAILEY, DTP, T/R, 9:00-10:15 a.m., which is located on the counter in BYRD 212.

    There is no comprehensive final examination. 

    If you have NO absences or tardies during the semester, add three points to your semester grade.

    Attendance

    \ Employees in the business world are expected to be at work promptly each day; therefore, students in business classes are expected to be in class promptly each day. This class meets twice per week. After two absences for any reason, 1 point will be deducted from the semester average for two absences (4+). There are no excused absences. Two tardies equal one absence. If you are more than 5 minutes late to a class, it will
