    \ The student will continue to apply basic knowledge/skills of word processing using Microsoft Word 2007 and will learn the following: inserting images, shapes, and WordArt; creating/enhancing tables and charts; sorting and selecting; managing lists, shared documents, page numbers, headers, and footers; inserting and customizing Quick Parts; customizing AutoCorrect, Word options, and themes; formatting with styles; protecting documents; inserting endnotes, footnotes, and references; creating indexes, specialized tables, and forms.

    \ By the end of the semester, the student will be able to complete satisfactorily all of the Learning Outcomes (Minimum Competencies) with a competency level based on the completion of required examinations administered under the supervision of the instructor and evaluated according to the instructor’s grading scale in the Office Administration Department.

    Expected Student Behavior

    Plagiarism, Cheating and Individual Work Ethic: The Amarillo College policies and Code of Student Conduct is strictly adhered to when dealing with plagiarism, cheating and duplication of work product. Any evidence of plagiarism, cheating or duplication of work product will result in a zero on the project or test in question.

    Grading Criteria

    GRADING SCALE:  See course schedule.  Course grade:  90-100 = A; 80-89 = B; 70-79 = C; 60-69 = D; <60 = F

    Chapter exercises and skill assessments will be checked by the instructor, but no letter/number grade will be assigned; unit performance assessments will also be checked, but no letter/number grade will be assigned.

    Production tests will be graded as follows:

                                                                                        3   errors =   65
                                                                                        4   errors =   55
                                                                                        5+ errors =   50

    There are no incompletes in this class.  There is no “extra credit” to be earned.  There are no make-up production tests for any reason.  Production tests are timed; no extra time is allowed.

    Changes/deviations from the course schedule will be made by email at least one week prior to the scheduled event.  It is the student’s responsibility to stay current, informed, and on time regarding deadlines.

    Chapter exercises will be checked:

    154-152  printed exercises = A (100)                   151-149  printed exercises = B (89)
    148-146  printed exercises = C (79)                     145-143 printed exercises = D (69)
    142-140  printed exercises = F (59)                     Below 140 printed exercises = 0
    If you do not complete 143 chapter exercises, regardless of other grades, your course grade will be an F.

    Chapter assessments and unit performance assessments will be checked:

    145-141 assessments = A (100)                           140-136 assessments = B (89)                                                           
    135-131 assessments = C (79)                             130-126 assessments = D (69)
    125-121 assessments = F (59)                             Below 120 assessments = 0
    If you do not complete 126 assessments, regardless of other grades, your course grade will be an F.

    Chapter exercises and assessments are due by the day following the assignment.  No late chapter exercises or assessments will be accepted for ANY reason--there are NO exceptions to this! 

    You must label your chapter exercises and chapter assessments properly in order to receive credit; include the following information:  (1) Your Name, (2) AWP, (3) Chapter/Exercise (C01 Ex1A).

    Chapter exercises and/or chapter assessments are to be placed in my box labeled:  BAILEY  which is located on the counter in BYRD 212.

    There are four (4) production tests. There are no incompletes in this class.  There is no “extra credit” to be earned.  There are no make-up production tests for any reason. 

    There is no comprehensive final examination.  The last production test (over Chapters 26-30) will be given during the final examination time.  It cannot be taken early or late.

    If you have NO absences or tardies during the semester, add three points to your semester grade.
