An introduction to psychology covering the principles of human behavior relating to heredity, maturation, intelligence, learning, motivation, perception, emotions and personality.

\ Ciccarelli:  Psychology: An Exploration   Books a la Carte Edition with MyPsychLab; however, students will not be required to use MyPsychLab.

Supplies

\ Writing materials for  note taking; access to the internet via a computer with sufficient capacity and software to use AC Online - the college's delivery system for online instruction.

Attendance

\ Attendance for an online class means time on task. During a short, summer course, a student will need to be working on this class almost everyday. Regular logins to check email, other communications, and discussion forums is a must.

There are four major exams which include exams to be taken online via AC Online:

  • Exam 1 covers Chapters 1, 2, 3
  • Exam 2 covers Chapters 4, 5, 6
  • Exam 3 covers Chapters 7,8, 9
  • Exam 4 covers Chapters 11, 12, 13
  • See the class calendar for dates. These exams are challenging with many questions requiring thought rather than simply regurgitating information from the text and your notes. Because of the difficulty of the exams, students have the opportunity to earn a curve by actively participating online through discussions and emails,

·         Take Exam 1 over Chapters 1, 2, and 3. It  will close at 5 minutes until midnight on June 18. Be sure to start by 11:00 pm on June 17 to get all of your time.  You only get one attempt so be ready. The exams are challenging even for the best students but there will be a curve added to your score. The curve is not a specific number of points but is based on the square root of you grade. The curve will not be added until after everyone has taken the exam. I will send an email when the curve is added.
