\ 1. Identify and use long and short vowel sounds. 2. Improve English vocabulary. 3. Talk about daily routines and schedules. 4. Talk about current events. 5. Learn to use time expressions. 6. Learn to give and listen for directions. 7. Learn to explain problems and request help. 8. Learn to use comparatives and superlatives. 9. Practice describing people, places, and things of interest. 10. Learn to recognize common idioms. 11. Discuss memories of the past, feelings about the present, and plans for the future.

\ To increase students' vocabulary and aural/oral fluency so students can converse in everyday situations. To increase students abilities in listening, comprehension and pronunciation. To enable students to recognize common idioms.

Expected Student Behavior

\ Please speak English in the classroom at all times. Cell phones must be turned off during class times unless special permission is given by the instructor.

Grading Criteria

\ A = 90-100 Excellent; B = 80-89 Good; C = 70-79 Fair; D = Below 70 ; Failing, must repeat. One hour of lab work per week is required. If a student or a class does not finish the material

\ Make up tests will not be given. If you miss one test, the grades you have will be averaged with no penalty. If you miss more than one test, you will receive a 0 for the test missed.

Attendance

Please limit absences to no more than 2 per summer course. Additional absences can affect your final grade in the class. If you stop attending class and do not formally withdraw, you will receive an F.
