Student Performance

\ (Minimum Competencies)  After studying the materials presented in this course of study, the student will be able to do the following as evaluated by the faculty in the department/program:

• \ Identify properties of various fibers, textures, and weaves
\
• \ Evaluate the properties of textiles for interior use.
\
• \ Specify the appropriate fabric for an interior design project
\

\ The student will:

• \ Describe characteristics of natural and manufactured fibers, yarns, and finishes

• \ identify fabric construction methods
\
• \ Interpret fabric care and labeling information
\
• \ Evaluate code requirements and test results
\
• \ Select appropriate fabrics to meet project requirements

Expected Student Behavior

\ Students are expected to follow the guidelines as defined in the AC Students Rights & Responsibilities which can be found on the AC Website.  Cell phones are to remain off during class, and students may be asked to cleave class if they are being disruptive and thus interfering with the learning environment.  Students are also expected to dress appropriately as defined by instructor for events and field trips.

Grading Criteria

\ A = 90-100; B = 80-89; C = 70-79; D = 60-69; F = Below 60

\ Any work missed must be completed within one week of original deadline or by special arrangements with instructor.  Otherwise, student will be assigned a zero for the missed work.

\ It is the student's responsibility to get class notes and assignments from fellow classmates.

Attendance

\ Regular attendance is necessary for satisfactory achievement.  Therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to attend class in accordance with the requirements of the course as established by the instructor.  Attendance and/or participation requirements in courses delivered electronically (telecourses and on-line courses) will be unique to the individual course.

\ Following three absences, two points per absence will be deducted from the final semester average up to 10 points.  Students who leave class early may be counted as absent.  Two tardies constitute an absence.  roll will be taken within the first ten minutes of class.  Students are responsible for informing instructor of tardiness.  This policy applies to classroom activities as well as field trips.
