Student Performance

After completing the course material, the student should be able to do one or more of the following:

1. Pass the math section of the GED exam.

2. Become eligible to enroll in Math 0302: Beginning Algebra, or BASM 0202 WBA Online (Beginning Algebra skills) by achieving the required score on the math section of the Accuplacer or THEA placement test.

The Online Basic Academic Skills Basic Math course is designed to help students build basic skills in math and/or Algebra and prepare to pass the math section of the GED exam and/or score into Beginning Algebra on the math section of the Accuplacer or THEA test. Students will demonstrate an improvement in math skills.

\ Students are expected to behave in the Learning Center in a manner that is supportive of the learning environment. Behaviors that are not supportive include but are not limited to: cheating, abuse of equipment, electronic device noises, abusive, offensive or disrespectful language and/or demeanor toward AC faculty, staff, students and/or property. Students who fail to comply with the standards outlined in the syllabus and/or “Student Rights & Responsibilities” will be subject to disciplinary action which may include but is not limited to: removal from the Learning Center, consultation with the Learning Center Coordinator and/or other AC authority, withdrawal from the course and/or the college.

Attendance

Since the instruction is delivered through the Internet, there is no mandatory attendance associated with this course. However, if you need additional help with your math problems or with any of the math concepts covered in the online lessons, you may come to the ACcess Learning Center, log in using your student i.d. number, and receive assistance from the ACcess Learning Center instructors. Please ask an Instructor for help to log-in. Instructors are available to help you understand the material during the center's regular hours of operation.
