MATH 0303-minimum grade of C, an Accuplacer score of 75, a THEA score of 270, an equivalent score on a state-approved test or Department Chair consent

Logic; sets and counting; metric system; probability; statistics; geometry; math of finance; and exponential and logarithmic functions.

\ Learning Objectives: After completing this course, the student will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the following topics as evaluated by the faculty in the department/program:

- \ Identify the difference between deductive and inductive reasoning \
- \ Investigate sets and set operations, and use Venn diagrams to solve survey problems \
- \ Study symbolic logic, and use truth tables to evaluate arguments \
- \ Evaluate simple interest, compound interest, annuities, installment loans, and amortized loans \
- \ Use dimensional analysis to understand measurement \
- \ Compute perimeter, area, volume, and surface area of geometric figures \
- \ Demonstrate an understanding of basic counting principles, and calculate probability \
- \ Interpret population, sample, data, measures of central tendency, and measures of dispersion \

Expected Student Behavior

\\ Students are expected to behave in the classroom in a manner that is supportive of the learning environment. Behaviors that are not supportive include but are not limited to: tardiness/leaving early, electronic device noises, talking during lecture, abusive, offensive, or disrespectful language and/or demeanor toward AC faculty, staff, students and/or property.
\\ Talking during lecture, even when it applies to the subject, keeps other students from hearing the lecture. If another student asks you a question, please interrupt the instructor and let them explain. Chances are others have the same question.
\\ In order to receive credit for a course, all material listed on the syllabus (which is mandated by the state) must be covered. The instructor sets the pace to ensure that these requirements are met.
\\ Students who fail to comply with the standards outlined in the syllabus and/or "Student Rights & Responsibilities" will be subject to disciplinary action which may include but is not limited to; removal from the classroom, consultation with department chair and/or other AC authority, withdrawal from the course and/or the college.
\\ Cheating of any sort will not be tolerated and will result in a grade of zero on the test, quiz or homework in question with no chance of dropping that grade.

Attendance
Attendance will be taken at the beginning of class and updated during class for students that come to class late or leave early.
Withdraw deadline: November 20, 2013.
If you stop attending class and your average drops below a 60 and you do not officially drop the course by this date, you will receive an F for the course.
