Prerequisites

Prerequisites: BCIS 1305, CETT 1305, ELMT 1301, INTC 1301

Course Description

Automatic process control including measuring devices, analog and digital instrumentation, signal transmitters, recorders, alarms, controllers, control valves and process and instrument diagrams. Includes connection and troubleshooting of loops.

\ Explain  pneumatic and electronic controls; connect and troubleshoot control loops; and draw process and instrument diagrams, wiring diagrams, and block diagrams.

Expected Student Behavior

\ Cell phones WILL be silenced during class and in labs.

\ Food and drink may be allowed in non-computer lecture class, but may not be allowed in computer labs or technical labs.

\ Students are required to have the required textbook the first night of class. If you do not plan to have a textbook, do not take the course.
\
\       Do not attend class without your textbook,  you will be asked to leave and counted as absent for that session. You need to complete
\
\       textbook assignments (reading and homework) as scheduled by the instructor. You are in class to learn a career, so come prepared
\
\       to learn and contribute to the class.
\

\ Students need to dress to industry standards. Each student will be in a lab setting that will simulate work environments. Work  
\
\       environment and safety standards will be used and emphasized in this course.

Grading Criteria

\ Students will receive a letter grade according to the following criteria:

\

\ Attendance and Labs           30%

\

\ Unit Exams                          50%

\

\ Final Exam                           20%

\

\ A=90-100;  B=80-89;  C=70-79;  D=60-69;  F=Below 60. 

Attendance

\ Attendance in class is regarded as a requirement and obligation for learning. Students are expected to attend at scheduled class times. Students will be considered in attendance when the instructor takes class roll at the start of each class or lab session, and the student is still in attendance until the class or lab has been dismissed by the instructor.

\ Historically, each two absences from class usually results in the final letter grade dropping one letter for the course.

\ Please remember that the last date to drop class is published in the official Amarillo College Schedule of Classes. If you stop attending class and fail to officially drop a course by the deadline, you will receive an "F" for the course.

\ It is the responsibility of the student to gain any materials missed during regularly scheduled class caused by their absence.

\

\ It is the responsibility of the student to make arrangements with the instructor to schedule a time to make up missed exams due to absence(s). This makeup exam may be scheduled at an alternate time outside of regularly scheduled class time and is at the discretion of the instructor.

\ Please call if you are going to be absent or late to class.
