\ Course Description—                                    The catalog description of the course.

\ Use of the tools and transformation options of an industry-standard vector drawing program to create complex illustrations or drawings. Emphasis is placed on the development of print designs for service bureau delivery.

\ Course Goals/Objectives—                  The student will learn elements and principles of design, the functions of a drawing program and will be able to illustrate and design using the tools associated with the computer program.

Expected Student Behavior

\ —WHILE IN CLASS: A student friendly environment is needed for learning. There are FIVE (5) guidelines each student must adhere to.

\ 1). NO headphones in class unless specified by instructor.

\

\ 2). NO video downloads in class unless specified by instructor.

\

\ 3). NO undesirable visual or verbal communication.

\

\ 4). NO eating or drinking in the lab.

\

\ 5) Cell phones must be turned OFF.

\

\ Continual disregard for set guidelines will result in removal from class and a zero (0) for day which will be averaged with the rest of your grades.

Grading Criteria

GRADING:                   —The alphabet system explained in the Amarillo College Catalog. It should be noted that a minimum grade of “C” is required as a prerequisite for advanced courses in studio art.

Having the proper tools the student will complete all tasks required. The instructor will provide lecture, demonstration and or group discussion to help the student complete each task.

0% and less than 69.5 = F (Failing)

69.5% and less than 79.5 = C (average skills)

79.5% and less than 89.5 = B (needs improving)

89.5 and 100 = A (excellent skills)

                                                          The course grade will be determined by the student’s attendance record, attitude in class,                                                            work ethics and industry standard quality of assignments.

                                                                                          Industry Standards are as follows.

    NO EXCEPTIONS!                                    —Late work violates industry standards; therefore, a grade of “0” will be given to the student.

    NO EXCEPTIONS!                                    —Anyone caught cheating or plagiarizing copyright material will receive an “F” for the class.

\ ATTENDANCE:                     —Students are allowed one (1) week of absences from class. Student’s final grade will be lowered by one letter grade for each additional week missed. One point off final grade average for every week of tardiness.

B/W plus a color version of the logo (fit inside a 5”X7” or 7”X5” image area)

Design stationery using the color version of the logo

Save, place in PS and composite two logos and stationery into a pdf file

Criteria:                   Using ONLY Illustrator—design, illustrate and produce CRA for the following tasks.

                  • Use as many colors as you want using pantone colors ONLY!

• Each Task has 4 parts of which each is worth up to 25 points. If you miss the first part of the        

  assignment then your grade will be a “0” for that task and you cannot make it up.

• Each assignment has criteria, other than the ones above, which will be given to you by the

   instructor of class at the time of lecture.

The Swing era began in the late 1920’s when musicians like Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington played their music to audiences of color bringing in such great Jazz/Blues artisits as Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and of course the ever popular Louis Armstrong.

Narrative line-art with color printing in the form of separate panels that represent individual scenes, often accompanied by dialog in word balloons as well as including brief descriptive prose.

French for "new art", it is characterized by organic—especially floral and other plant-inspired motifs, as well as very stylized, free-flowing curvilinear shapes and lines.
