Academic Honesty: All matters of academic dishonesty including plagiarism (the act of copying and pasting information from one source and inserting into a paper without proper citation, rewriting information from another source and inserting into a paper without proper citation, copying and rewriting from another student’s work and using as your own), collusion, fabrication, cheating etc. will result in a failing grade for the assignment in question.

Online Student Behavior: All students are expected to be polite and considerate when posting opinions and thoughts in the Discussion Forum. The Online class is not a location where students may post aggressive, insulting, or inappropriate use of language. Any student who violates the required Student Behavior (as stated and in the AC Student Handbook) will result in a failing grade for the course.

\ Grading Criteria: It is the student’s responsibility to complete all assigned tasks by the specified due date. Individual assignments are evaluated by the instructor. Students are expected to complete all requirements with no less than 75% accuracy. Incomplete assignments, analyses, participation attendance concerns will be reported to specific department chairs, division chairs, and Associate Vice President of Instruction.
\\ ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS:
\\ •The grade you will receive will be determined by your completion of the Assignments, Analyses, Presentation, Quizzes and Essays.
\\ •Completion of Blackboard Student Help and Tutorial found on the AC Connect public announcement (home page).
\\ •Chapter Assignments, Analyses, Presentation, Quizzes and Essays will be averaged for the Final Grade.
\\ Course Requirements:
\\ Chapters will be presented according to specific calendar dates. Chapters will be not follow in sequential order, refer to the Course Calendar for specific due dates.

Assignments and Analyses will be written in the MLA format with proper college level writing skills. Text messaging abbreviations will not be accepted. Essays and Assignments must be submitted in the rtf(rich text format) in order to be opened by college computers for grading.
\ 1. Assignments and Analyses – worth 50%

Students will memorize terms and definitions from the textbook and from lectures.

Students will research the terms and methods from the textbook and from lectures.
\
Students will research and analyze various topics relating to the chapters.
\ 2. Discussion Forums – worth 30%

Students will read material, choose appropriate images or watch visual examples.
\
Students will write analytical responses.
\
Students will post responses into a Discussion Forum.

Students will reply to classmates’ posts.
\ 3. Analysis of Attendance to a Visual or Performing Event – worth 10%

Students will attend or visit one of the following: art museum, gallery, serious music performance, theatrical performance, and or poetry or author reading.
\
Students will receive prior approval from the instructor for the event.
\
Students will write a 500 – 750 word essay following the paragraph instructions detailed in the Attendance Analysis Essay Folder.

Students will upload the essay as an attachment to the drop box by the specified due date.
\
Students will have eight weeks (8) to complete the essay.
\
Students will not be allowed to submit their essay after the due date.
\ 4. Final Exam: Critical Thinking Analysis Essay – worth 10%

Students will choose a selected topic for research based on Chapter 11, 12 or Chapter 13.
\
Students will research, analyze and critique topic using academic research and critical analysis methods.
\
Students will present research evaluation by writing a 750 – 1000 word essay.

Students will write the Critical Thinking Essay following the paragraph instructions detailed in the Critical Analysis Essay Folder.

Students will upload the essay as an attachment by the specified due date.

Students will have at Eleven (11) weeks to complete the essay.
\
Students will not be allowed to submit their essay after the due date.

ATTENDANCE POLICY FOR ONLINE:

It is the student’s responsibility to access the course online and complete all Assignments, Analyses, Discussion Forums, Quizzes, and Essays according to the course calendar. Students are expected to access the online course every day to complete all requirements according to the set due dates.
