A detailed study of the human organism according to levels of chemical and structural organization with special reference to cytology, histology, and organs of the sense organs, endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, urinary, digestive and reproductive systems and genetics.

\ 1. Describe each endocrine gland and its hormones including actions, regulation, and disorders.

\ 2. Define the principal physical characteristics of blood and its functions in the body.

\

\ 3. Identify and describe the structure of the heart and the functions of each part to include the flow of blood through the heart and the body.

\ 4. Describe the principal events of the cardiac cycle and cardiac output.

\

\ 5. Contrast the structure and function of arteries, arterioles, capillaries, venules, and veins.

\ 6. Identify and describe the functions and components of the lymphatic system.

\

\ LECTURE: Regular attendance is necessary for satisfactory achievement. Your lecture grade will make up one-half (40%) of your total grade for the semester. In lecture one major exam grade and one short quiz grade will be dropped.

\ Your lab grade will be one-fourth (25%) of your total grade for the semester. This grade will consists of 2 Lab Practicals.

\ All online homework will count as one major exam grade. Due to anticipated technical difficulties, 3-4 activities will be dropped.

\ MAKE UP POLICY

\ If you experience computer problems or miss an exam, you will not be able to make up or retake the exam. However you will be able to drop the exam. You are only allowed one drop exam and it does not include the lab practical or final exam. A missed lab practical or final exam will result in a zero.

\ NO EXCEPTION

Attendance

\ No make up will be given for missed major exams or short quizzes.  A grade of zero will be given for any missed major exam or short quiz. NO EXCEPTIONS.  If you have a computer problem or a schedule conflict. You have one drop exam to use as a replacement. There will be no other exceptions.

\ Regular attendance is necessary for satisfactory achievement. Your lecture grade counts (50%) of your total grade for the semester. The lecture grade consists of five major exam grades, online homework and short quizzes in lecture and lab. One major exam and at least 3 online homework grades will be dropped.

\ Lecture and Lab quizzes may be comprehensive. The quizzes may be given at anytime during the lecture or laboratory period.
