AERM-1452-001 Aircraft Sheet Metal

Prerequisites

Course Description

Skill development in inspection and repair of sheet metal structures including forming, layout and bending of sheet metal and identification, selection and installation of rivets and fasteners. Fundamentals of safety procedures also address.

  • \ Install conventional rivets identify conventional rivets, preform riveting to FAA specifications, identify, remove and replace improperly installed rivets, countersink sheet metal and install flush rivets

  • \ Form, lay out, and bend sheet metal, make a joggle in aluminum sheet metal, prepare a layout for bend in aircraft sheet metal, layout and make bends in sheet metal
  • \
  • \ Inspect and repair sheet metal structures repair shallow scratches in sheet metal, repair a slightly oversize hole by reaming for next larger size rivet, prepare dissimilar metals for assembly, make a stressed skin repair, examine damaged structures for apparent and hidden damage, complete sheet metal structural repairs as per manufacturers data or acceptable data of the administration.
