Course Description

A computer-aided modeling course. Development of three dimensional drawings and models from engineering sketches and orthographic drawings and utilization of three-dimensional models in design work.

\  Review of isometric drawing; using 3-D coordinates to create wireframe models; setting up user coordinate systems; modifying the view in 3-D; creating multiple viewports in both paper space and model space; setting up perspective views; creating solid models by primitives, extrusion, revolving, intersection, subtraction, and union; setting up rendering scenes using lights, materials, and shading; creating simple animation with the Showmotion utility.

\ It is the responsibility of the student to initiate drop or withdrawal procedures. Students who stop attending class but do not officially drop or withdraw from this course will receive a letter grade at the end of the semester.

Grading Criteria

A - 89.5 and above

B - 79.5 to 89.4

C - 69.5 to 79.4

D - 59.5 to 69.4

F - 59.4 and below

 

 The final grade will be computed as follows: 

    Weekly Written Assignments                20%
    Weekly Drawing Assignments             20%
    Three Exams                                          20%
    Three Projects                                        30%
    Final Exam                                              10% 
                                                                   100%

Students will be given assignments each week that include both written and drawing tasks. Written assignments must be printed from a word processor. Late assignments will be lowered ten points. Assignments later than one class from their due dates will receive a grade of 0. 
 
Students will be given three objective online exams and three drawing projects. Exam make-ups should be approved ahead of the exam date by the instructor and may be written exams. Late projects will be lowered ten points, and projects will not be accepted after one class from their due dates. A final online exam will be due at the last class meeting. Students with an A average in the final class week do not have to take the final exam. Summer semester only: I will drop your lowest grade in the top four grade categories shown above.

 

Attendance

\  Students are expected to attend all regularly scheduled class meetings. Attendance is monitored. If a class is missed, it is the student's responsibility to determine what may have been missed and take appropriate action.
