    \ OBJECTIVES AND GOALS OF COURSE:  Students will learn to prepare, format, and manage documents; create and enhance tables; and create a mail merge using Word 2010.

    \ By the end of the semester, the student will be able to satisfactorily complete all of the Learning Outcomes (Minimum Competencies) with a competency level based on the completion of required examinations administered under the supervision of the instructor and evaluated according to the instructor’s grading scale in the Office Administration Department.

    Expected Student Behavior

    CELL PHONES: Please turn off your cell phones before coming to class.  Do not bring I-pods to class.

    CHILDREN/FOOD/DRINKS:  Children, food and drinks ARE NOT allowed in the computer labs.  No exceptions!

    PLAGIARISM, CHEATING AND INDIVIDUAL WORK ETHIC:  The Amarillo College policies and Code of Student Conduct is strictly adhered to when dealing with plagiarism, cheating and duplication of work product.  Any evidence of plagiarism, cheating or duplication of work product will result in a zero on the project or test in question.

    Grading Criteria

    GRADING SCALE: See course schedule. Course grade: 90-100 = A; 80-89 = B; 70-79 = C; 60-69 = D; <60 = F

    PRODUCTION TEST GRADING SCALE:

    0 errors = 100
    1 error   = 85
    2 errors = 75
    3 errors = 65
    4 errors = 55
    5+ errors = 50

    There are no incompletes in this class. There is no “extra credit” to be earned. There are no make-up production tests for any reason. Production tests are timed; no extra time is allowed.

    45-42 completed exercises = F (59)        Below 41 completed exercises = 0
    If you do not complete at least 41 exercises (regardless of other grades), your course grade will be an F.

    Chapter/Unit Assessments will be checked:

    76-73 completed assessments = A (100)   72-69 completed assessments = B (89)
    68-65 completed assessments = C (79)     64-61 completed assessments = D (69)
    60-57 completed assessments = F (59)     Below 57 completed assessments = 0
    If you do not complete at least 57 assessments (regardless of other grades), your course grade will be an F.

    Chapter exercises and assessments are due by 7:00 p.m. on Monday Evening. There are NO exceptions to this—no late assignments will be accepted for ANY reason. Look ahead at your Course Schedule; work ahead to turn assignments in on time.

    Staple all printed material assigned for that chapter (exercises and/or chapter assessments) together. On the top sheet in the top right corner, key your first and last name; on the next line, your class (WP); on the next line, the exercise number or assessment number. At the top right corner of each exercise or assessment, you must key that exercise or assessment number.

    There are five production tests (including the comprehensive final)—there are NO makeup production tests for ANY reason. Production tests are timed for one hour. No extra time will be allowed.

    If you have NO absences or tardies during the semester, add three points to your semester grade.

    Attendance

    \ Employees in the business world are expected to be at work promptly each day; therefore, students in business classes are expected to be in class promptly each day. This class meets one time per week. After one absence for any reason, two points will be deducted from the semester average for each absence above one. There are no excused absences. Three tardies equal one absence. If you are more than five minutes late to a class, it will be counted as an absence. If you have perfect attendance and no tardies, three points will be added to your semester average.
