\ \Cell Phone/Personal Computer Policy: In order to not interrupt the class session, students are asked to turn off all cell phones and pagers prior to the beginning of class. Personal computers are to be used strictly for notes and accessing course material. Improper use of cell phones and computers in class is inappropriate in the collegiate setting and will not be tolerated. Please advise the instructor before class of any special circumstances that may require communication from home.
\ \Student texting is readily noticed by the instructor, and will result, at the least, in the loss of any extra credit privileges.

1. Seven Tests - Lowest Grade Dropped (60%). Tests are online, and open for two days, except when otherwise noted.
\ \2. A 300 - word essay on a creative work or artist either studied this semester or chosen by the student. Students will describe and analyze the work, utilizing the charactersitics presented in class. Towards the end of the semester, stduents will present oral and/or PowerPoint summaries of their work to the class. The presentation is worth 10 points of the essay grade. The paper must be double - spaced, 12 or 14 font, free of grammatical errors, and properly paragraphed. This excludes block - paragraphing or extended offsets between paragraphs. Papers that do not follow the collegiate form will not be accepted! (20%) Note: students seeking help in writing are encouraged to go to Writers Corner.

\ \Please note: all assessments, including both tests and essays, are submitted online. The essays will have separate portals for extra credit and required essays. Any problems with submission should be reported both to technical support at the college as well as the instructor.

\ Regular attendance is absolutely necessary for satisfactory achievement. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to attend class. Students with frequent absences, as well as those who leave prior to dismissal, not only risk refusal of any extra credit, but inevitably realize lower academic performance because of missed material.
