\ Purpose and Goals of the Course:By the end of the semester the student should be able to complete the listed objectives with a minimum 60% competency level based of the grading procedure for the course.

1. \ Understand the concept of Geologic Time and be able to reproduce the Geologic Time Scale.
\
2. \ Understand the formation of Sedimentary rocks and how depositional environment affects fossil formation.
\
3. \ Understand the use of fossils in determining age and succession of sedimentary rock units.
\
4. \ Demonstrate the ability to recognize and describe rock and fossil distribution for the major geologic time divisions.

Expected Student Behavior

\ As a student in this class you will be expected to arrive to class on time, turn work in on time, read the lab assignment before class meets, regularly check the class AC Online webpage for assignments and updates.

\ Grade Breakdown:      

\ Lab Assignments         60%

\ Exams                   40%

\ The overall course grade will be according to the following percentages:

\ A    - 90 - 100 %
\ B    - 80 - 89.99 %
\ C   - 70 - 79.99 %
\ D   - 60 - 69.99 %
\ F    - Below 60 %

\ There will be no extra credit assignments. If you have a question about a grade, you have two weeks from the date that the grade is posted to ask for a review. After that two weeks the grade will be permanent.

Attendance

\ Regular attendance is necessary for satisfactory achievement. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to attend class. There will be no makeup’s for missed labs or tests unless prior arrangements have been made. NO EXCEPTIONS.
