Course Description

Fundamental principles of physics, using algebra and trigonometry; the principles and applications of electricity and magnetism, including circuits, electrostatics, electromagnetism, waves, sound, light, optics and modern physics topics; with emphasis on problem solving. Laboratory activities will reinforce lecture content.

Expected Student Behavior

\ Students are expected to be on time every day ready to learn. All materials should be brought to class each day. Students are expected to work hard each day to learn and understand the concepts being taught. Disrupting the flow of class or the learning of other students is not allowed.

Grading Criteria

\ Grades will be determined using a total points system. The grade for each six weeks will be determined by the percentage of points earned compared to the number of points possible based on the weights listed below.

\ The semester grade will be an average of the 3 six weeks grades and a comprehensive semester exam.

\

\ A = 89.5 to 100%

\

\ B = 79.5 to 89.4%

\

\ C = 69.5 to 79.4%

\

\ D = 59.5 to 69.4%

\

\ F = 0 to 59.4%

Attendance

\ This is a high school dual-credit course. Attendance will not be used to assess a grade, but regular attendance is necessary in order to comply with the state's compulsory attendance laws.

\ Regular attendance will ensure maximum learning and understanding of the complex material being taught in this course. Please contact your instructor if you will be absent for an extended amount of time.
