\ Workout clothes and shoes.
\ After completing this course, the student will be able to do the following:
\\ 1. Complete a pre and post fitness evaluation and achieve normal development as tested by fitness battery tests. (25% of grade)
\\ 2. Set specific long term and short term goals and monitor progress throughout the semester.
\\ 3. Define frequency, intensity, and duration of exercise.
\\ 4. Identify an aerobic conditioning program and progress through it during the semester.
\\ 5. Locate the carotoid and radial artery for the purpose of counting heart beats per minute.
\\ 6. Determine an individual exercise training zone (target heart rate) using both a chart and the Karvonen method.
\\ 7. Learn what the warm-up, aerobic exercise, and cool down phases of exercise are.
\\ 8. Be able to illlustrate proper warm-up training and related dance exercises
\\ 9.Acquire essential skills for making positive behavior changes in the areas of Nutrition, Fitness, Stress Management and Weight Management
\\ 10. Complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionaire(PAR-Q) form.

GRADING POLICY:

\2. Performance Assessment – 25%
MAKEUP POLICY:
\Pick up make-up form at front desk of Carter Fitness Center. Participate in activity for 1 hour. Check out with front desk upon completion of make-up. Check fitness center hours before planning make-up workout.

ABSENTEE POLICY:

Three make-ups allowed. Once you have used your 3 make-ups, the class attendance grade is as follows:

0 absence = A
\
1 absence = B
\
2 absences = C
\
3 absences = D
\
4 or more absences = F
\ An absence is defined as failure to attend class during scheduled class time. Special considerations must be put in written form and will be taken into consideration. Work, appointments, make-up tests and any other personal matters should be scheduled around class time.
\ Week !: Syllabus and Fitness Pre-test.
\\ Week 2: Exercise Presscription
\\ Week 3-15: Dance fitness led by instructor.
\\ Week 16: Post exercise test.
\ This is a Zumba class. Zumba is a cardio-based dance fitness class, with a salsa flair!
