Course Description

Manufacturing of sheet metal structures. Includes inspection and layout or repair of metallic, composite or bonded structures. Also covers identification, selection and installation of conventional or special fasteners.

Supplies

\ Students will need to have access to a computer and the internet capable of receiving online instruction.

Student Performance

The student will learn the theory to layout sheet metal; install conventional fasteners; inspect and/ or repair sheet metal structures; and select, install, and remove special fasteners for metallic, bonded, and composite structures.  The student will learn the theory to basic skills necessary to safely work with composite and identify characteristics of composites.  Inspect, test, and repair fiberglass, plastics, honeycomb, composite, and laminated primary and secondary structures.This includes discussion on basic concepts of aircraft repair and the tools and materials associated with such repairs.

Expected Student Behavior

\ All students are to perform in a professional manner.  All lab conduct rules and lab safety requirements are to be followed at all times.

Grading Criteria

\ 900 - 1000 points   = A

\ 800 - 899  points    = B

\

\ 700 - 799  points    = C

\

\ Below 700 points   = F

Attendance

\ Each student will be required to logon a minimum of three different days during each week (Module) covering the eight weeks of this course.  Student participation in assignments, discussions, projects, quizzes and exams are required for student success.

Calendar

Each week will end at 11: 55 PM on each Sunday except Week Eight.  Week Eight ends at 11:55 PM the day of the Final Exam. Course quizzes can occur during each week of this course.
