Study of the use and abuse of drugs in today's society. Emphasizes the physiological, sociological and psychological factors.

Students must have access to a reliable computer with internet access. Students will also need to download RealPlayer Cloud.
By the end of the semester the student will be able to satisfactorily complete all the listed learning objectives with a minimum of 70% competency level based on the completion of a mid-semester, final exam and other periodic exams.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of:

2. Social and Societal Impacts of drug use and abuse.
3. Motivations for drug use.
4. Drugs and the Law
5.The Pharmacological and Physiological impact of drugs on the body.

9. Sedative-Hypnotic Drugs.
10. Psychotherapeutic Drugs
11. Stimulants: Cocaine, Amphetamines Methamphetamines, and Caffeine
12. Marijuana
13. Hallucinogens
14. Over the Counter Drugs
15. Substance Abuse Treatment.
16. Drug Prevention and Education.

MAKE-UP POLICY: Make-up opportunities are available to the student. Any missed classes or assignments must be made up by making arrangements with the instructor.
REQUIRED EXAMS: Chapter quizzes for each chapter, a Mid-Term exam, and a Final exam are required for the course.
FINAL EXAM: A Final exam is required of all students enrolled in this course.
This is an online class. Students will need to log into the class and do all work online. Students will be responsible for submitting work according to the instructor's time table.
