    \ After studying the material presented in this course of study, the student will be able to do the following as evaluated by the faculty in the department/program.

    \ Skill development in keyboarding with emphasis on alphabet, number, and symbol keys by touch.  Skills can be applied to computers, typewriters, and other equipment with keyboards.

    \ After studying the material presented in this course, the student will be able to do the following as evaluated by the faculty in the Office Administration Department.

    1. \ Key the alpha/numeric keyboard by touch (this means without looking at the keyboard as you strike the keys) at a minimum rate of 25 words per minute for three minutes with a limit of 0-3 errors on designated material.

    \ TIMED WRITINGS: Your two best 3-minute timed writings with 0-3 errors will be averaged to determine your final Timed Writing grade (30 percent of final grade) for the semester based on the following scale:

    \                                                              C = 15-19 wpm with 0-3 errors

    Attendance

    \ Employees in the business world are expected to be at work promptly each day; therefore, students in business classes are expected to be in class promptly each day.  This class meets twice per week.  After two absences for any reason, one point per two absences will be deducted from the semester average (effective after four absences).  There are not excused absences.  Three tardies equal one absence.  If you are more than five minutes late to a class, it will be counted as an absence.  If you have perfect attendance and no tardies, three points will be added to your semester average.

    \ CLASS PROCEDURE: Complete required homework assigned by the instructor. This course is designed to teach you to strike the keys for alphabetic letters and numbers by touch (without looking at your fingers or the computer) on any keyboard.  In this course, you will learn basic computer functions.
