Prerequisite: POFI 2301-minimum grade of C or demonstrated competence
Advanced word processing techniques using merging, macros, graphics and desktop publishing. Includes extensive formatting for technical documents. This course is designed to be repeated multiple times to improve student proficiency.

\ OBJECTIVES AND GOALS OF COURSE: The student will continue to apply basic knowledge/skills of word processing using Microsoft Word 2010 and will learn the following: inserting images, shapes, and WordArt; creating/enhancing tables and charts; sorting and selecting; managing lists, shared documents, page numbers, headers, and footers; inserting and customizing Quick Parts; customizing AutoCorrect, Word options, and themes; formatting with styles; protecting documents; inserting endnotes, footnotes, and references; creating indexes, specialized tables, and forms.
\\ By the end of the semester, the student will be able to satisfactorily complete all of the Learning Outcomes (Minimum Competencies) with a competency level based on the completion of required examinations administered under the supervision of the instructor and evaluated according to the instructor’s grading scale in the Office Administration Department.

All homework assignments, chapter exercises, chapter assessments, and unit performance assessments will be checked by the instructor.
Students will receive a “100” on all assigned homework submitted before the posted deadline. Students are encouraged to read/apply the instructor’s comments when making corrections to homework to be better prepared for tests.
PRODUCTION TESTS:

1 error = 85
2 errors = 75
3 errors = 65
4 errors = 55
5+ errors = 50
There are no incompletes in this class. There is no “extra credit” to be earned. There are no make-up production tests for any reason. Production tests are timed; no extra time is allowed.
****READ CAREFULLY****TIMED PRODUCTION TESTS: Students are required to insert the “current time” (see “Steps to Insert Beginning/Ending Test Times) at the beginning and at the end of each production test; the time limit for production tests is one hour. Ten points will be deducted from the test score for each five-minute increment past the one-hour time limit; for example, 65 minutes = -10 points; 70 minutes = - 20 points; 75 minutes = - 30 points, etc. Students are allowed to use books/notes on production tests; however, the test must be completed within one hour to avoid penalty.
TESTING: Students are required to adhere to the course schedule. All deadlines are posted to the online course calendar and will be strictly adhered to. No “make up” or “extra credit” opportunities will be allowed. This policy applies to all course deadlines.
Changes/deviations from the course schedule will be made by email at least one week prior to the scheduled event. It is the student’s responsibility to stay current, informed, and on time regarding deadlines.

You must label your chapter exercises and chapter assessments properly in order to receive credit; include the following information: (1) Your Name, (2) AWP Online, (3) Chapter/Exercise (C01 Ex1A).
Chapter exercises and/or chapter assessments are to be submitted electronically (as attachments to the specified Drop Box) through Blackboard. Each assignment will be checked. You will receive an email stating your results for each assignment.
There are four (4) production tests. Production tests are timed; the time limit is one hour. There are no incompletes in this class. There is no “extra credit” to be earned. There are no make-up production tests for any reason.
