CPMT-1351-002 IT Essentials: PC Hardware and Software
An introduction to the computer hardware and software skills needed to help meet the growing demand for entry-level information and communication technology (ICT) professionals. The curriculum covers the fundamentals of PC technology, networking and security, and also provides an introduction to advanced concepts. Hands-on labs and Virtual Laptop and Virtual Desktop learning tools help students develop critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills. Cisco Packet Tracer simulation-based learning activities promote the exploration of network and networking security concepts and allow students to experiment with network behavior.

\ 1. Students are expected to maintain a high standard of individual honor in their scholastic work. Students who are guilty of cheating, plagiarism, copying, or dishonesty may be excluded from class with a grade of F; or, in flagrant cases, may be suspended from the College. The faculty of the CIS Department reserves the right to ask a student to verify any portion of a test by reproducing any specific section or all of the test in question.
\\ 2. Any action that comprises the computer systems at Amarillo College, including but not limited to hacking or cracking, can result in a grade of “F” in this course and possible further disciplinary action.
\\ 3. Cell phones MUST be turned off or set so ringing cannot be heard for the duration of the entire class. If a cell phone can be heard in class during class time, points may be deducted from the final course grade. Emergency calls may be left with campus security, who will then contact the designated student.

Access to Business Division printing resources are a privilege granted to faculty, staff, and students of the Amarillo College Business Division. The Department reserves the right to limit, restrict, or extend these privileges.

The following regulations apply to all printers in the Business Division.
\ Failure to comply with this policy will result in a preliminary warning. Subsequent infractions will result in loss of lab privileges and campus disciplinary action.
The following criteria will be used to determine your grade:
\ \REQUIRED EXAMINATIONS:
\ \Written Exams.................................... 40%
\ \Labs................................................... 30%
\ \Final Exam...........................................20 %
\ \Class Participation............................. 10%
\ \Lab Grade will be 100% if all labs are complete, minus 10 points for each chapter lab assisignment not complete.
\ \FINAL EXAMINATIONS: Written and/or Lab Practical required.

Attendance in class is regarded as requirement, and obligation for learning. Please remember the deadline for dropping a class at AC is published in the official Amarillo College Schedule of Classes. If you stop attending class and do not officially drop the course by this deadline, you will receive an “F” for the course.
\ \Students will be warned and after two (2) absences and counseled by the instructor after three (3) absences.
\ \Being tardy three (3) times will be considered one (1) absence.
\ \Four (4) unexcused absences in any one semester may be cause for students to receive a failing grade for the course. Six (6) total absences (excused/or non-excused will automatically result in the student dropping one (1) letter grade for the course unless otherwise indicated by the instructor.
\ \It is the responsibility of the student to make up any work missed due to absences and to gain missed lecture notes through outside reading and/or note from classmates.
\ \Make up examinations (and other assignments) will be permitted at the discretion of the instructor. The time and place for make-up test will be determined by the instructor.
