Student Performance

Fundamentals of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology. Includes basic electrocardiography procedures, interpretation of basic dysrhythmias, and appropriate treatment modalities. Discuss the characteristics of the common atrial junctional, and ventricular dysrhythmias including atrioventricular blocks; and explain the electrical conduction system and electrophysiology of the heart. Recongize by electrocardiography the dysrhythmias of sinus, atrial, junctional, and ventricular orgin as well as the disorders of atrioventricular conduction. Discuss the pathogenesis, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and treatment of these dysrhythmias.

Expected Student Behavior

Describe the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system; perform basic electrocardiography procedures; interpret basic \ dysrhythmias; and demonstrate appropriate treatments.

Grading Criteria

The following criteria will be used to determine the course grade:
\ 1. Regular class attendance (25% of course grade)
\ 2. Active participation in the group discussions and learning exercises (25% of course grade)
\ 3. Completion of the practice exercises (25% of course grade)
\ 4. Completion of the final exam (25% of course grade)

\ The grade scale of the course is:
\ A= 90 - 100
\ B= 80 - 89
\ C= 70 - 79
\ D= 60 - 69
\ F= below 60

Attendance

A percentage of the course grade is determined by classroom attendance and participation.
