Student Performance

\ COURSE OBJECTIVES

\

\ The objectives of this course are written at the beginning of each of the chapters in the course textbook.                 

\

\ It is expected that the student will have read the material for each objective prior to coming to each class session in which those objectives will be covered.

\

\ REQUIRED EXAMINATIONS

\

\ Written Examinations

\

\ Throughout the course 3 quarterly exams. Quizes will be administered weekly throughout the course.  There will be a comprehensive final exam.

\

\ MAKE-UP POLICY

\

\ A student who does not complete an examination on the day originally scheduled must contact the instructor as soon as possible to schedule a makeup examination.  Should an exam not be completed within the week of the original examination date, a score of “0” will be averaged into the final course grade.

\ STUDENT’S RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

\ Amarillo College students should be familiar with the contents of Amarillo College’s Rights and Responsibilities pamphlet.  Copies of the pamphlet are available free to students.  These pamphlets are located in the Dean of Student Services Office or in the Business office.  It is the student’s responsibility to become familiar with the Student’s Rights and Responsibilities.

\ CELLULAR TELEPHONES AND PAGERS

\ Pagers and telephones are disruptive during class time.  Telephones and pagers must be turned off during class time.  If you feel that you will have an emergency during class time, leave the number of the student services office and they will contact you immediately.  The number is 371-5300.

\ WITHDRAWING FROM A COURSE

\

\ It is the responsibility of the student to officially drop or withdraw from a course.  Failure to officially withdraw may result in the student receiving a grade of "F" in the course.  The student may obtain a withdrawal form from his academic advisor, the counseling center or from the registrar's office.  It is also the responsibility of the student to take the drop slip to the registrar's office in order for the student to be officially dropped from a course.  Students are not automatically dropped from their class roles as a result of nonattendance.

Grading Criteria

Grade Weighting:

                                   Quizzes      =     20% of final grade

                                   Exams        =     45% of final grade

                                  Final Exam   =    35 % of final grade

The grading scale for this course is as follows:

                                    A                  =                 89.5 -100%

                                    B                  =                  79.5-89.4%

                                    C                  =                  69.5-79.4%

                                    D                  =                  59.5-69.4%

                          F                  =                  Any grade below 59.5%

Attendance

\ ATTENDANCE POLICY

\

\ Regular attendance is necessary for satisfactory achievement.  Therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to attend each class. 

\

\ Do not be tardy.  Do not be absent.  (Tardy = Absent) 

\

\ Examinations will be administered at the beginning of class periods. The examinations will not be passed out late.
