Grading Criteria

Your grade will be based on the following criteria: 

  1. Time log you create tracking paralegal tasks completed (20%)
  2. Complete 5 agreed-upon Learning Objectives (20%)
  3. Write 5-page paper summarizing the internship (20%)
  4. Supervisor Evaluation (20%)
  5. Complete 10 CALI Lessons (www.cali.org) (20%)

 The time log should be kept everyday as if you were billing a client. For example:

  • "May 23 - 2.5 hours - Summarized deposition of Defendant driver in case concerning truck wreck."

 

The learning objectives need to be emailed to me as you are assigned projects at your job. For example:

  •  "Prepare a trial notebook for a _________ case."
  • "Draft requests for admissions, interrogatorries, and requests for production for a _____ case."
  • "Attended hearing, mediation, deposition, etc. and drafted memo summarizing what transpired from my perspective." 

 

The paper needs to be a narrative of what you learned about the law over the course of the internship, including at least one ethical rule you encountered and how it was handled.

 

The CALI Lessons can be any lessons you choose; however 5 of the 10 must be about Ethics.

Attendance

Regular attendance is necessary for satisfactory achievement; therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to attend class.
