Prerequisite: RDNG 0331-minimum grade of C or a score on a state-approved test indicating college-level reading skills

Course Description

The scientific study of human society, including ways in which groups, social institutions and individuals affect each other. Causes of social stability and social change are explored through the application of various theoretical perspectives, key concepts and related research methods of sociology. Analysis of social issues in their institutional context may include topics such as social stratification, gender, race/ethnicity and deviance.

Throughout the class – you can calculate on your own where you stand. Take the points you have up to that point and divide it by the points you COULD have, - move the decimal over 2 and walla!
 
This does NOT include the extra credit paper.

2.  Class Participation:  All work is done online.

EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENT: 

1. “Just The Basics Please! Book 1: Money”. Write a 1 page, double spaced, 12 font, standard margin, paper regarding what you learned from this book. This paper is worth 10 points. This book is available in the bookstore.

2.  “Just The Basics Please! Book 2 Marriage & Sex”  Write a 1 1/2 page, double spaced, 12 font, standard margin, paper regarding what you learned from this book. This paper is worth 20 points. See assignment for further information.

MAKEUP POLICY:  NONE.  ALL test are done ONLINE and ON TIME.  I DO NOT turn quizzes back on.  Do not wait until the last minute; something will go wrong (Murphy's Law!!).  Excuses will not be accepted, sickness, weather, computer problems, work - it is your choice to take or not take the quizzes.

Read each chapter and complete the corresponding quiz by the dates listed below. 

Quizzes must be completed by NOON on the day they are due. Check the calendar for due dates.

(12:00 p.m. = Noon)

You may work ahead, you may NOT work behind. Once the quiz is off - it is OFF.

ALL ASSIGNMENTS (PAPERS) MUST BE SUBMITTED IN .rtf or .docx. 

DO NOT submit papers in .pages, .zip, .odt, .wps or any other format. I will NOT send you an email telling you to resubmit your paper because I cannot open it. I can open .rtf and .docx on any computer. 

IF you submit a paper in a format I cannot open, and you don’t catch your mistake, you will receive a 0 for that assignment.
